Why Trainer Workouts?

Workouts performed on a stationary trainer offer several
advantages.  They're efficient, specific, and offer a
controlled environment for consistent intervals. Trainer
based workouts are an excellent tool that can be added
into any training program.

It's safe to say, all cyclists would rather ride outside if they
had the choice.  Sometimes circumstances make that
difficult.  Indoor training is not something reserved for just
winter months and bad weather. Rather, it is the most
effective and rewarding training to do when time is limited.

How do they fit with other riding?

Our coaches believe their trainer workouts should be a
piece of a rider's overall program.  A supplement, allowing
development of specific fitness characteristics, such as
muscle endurance, strength, pedaling technique, speed
endurance, power, and both aerobic and anaerobic
fitness.
Gym Spin Classes

Our area gyms offer top-notch spin bike
classes taught by great instructors and you
will work hard.  Where these classes fall short
is the spin bike itself.  Usually the geometry,
bars, saddle and even crank arm length can
differ from your actual bike.  Quite simply, if
you want to go fast on "your" bike, you should
train on your bike.
What are the classes like?

Classes are 60 minutes in length and begin with warm-up
and pedaling technique work.  Specific intervals follow,
depending on the fitness goals of the workout.

You bring your bike in and we'll attach it to a  Kinetic
trainer and power meter.  The initial session of each Block
begins with a timed interval test to assess baseline
numbers such as average power, and speed. To help
monitor improvement we'll revisit this test.

The coach will give guidance with Intensity, technique, HR
Zones, RPE, and Power. The workout ends with a cycling
specific, Pilates based flexibility program.
